
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) is a striker. She is also captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division for professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was co-captained America's women's national soccer squad with Megan Rapinoe. Following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut at the club and helped the team win the league championship. Morgan 22, then 22 years old, was the youngest national player at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, where she was second. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada in the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal. She was second in the United States with 20 goals and 21 assists in 2012. This made her the youngest and sixth most prolific athlete in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
