
Kate Hudson has an impressive acting ability. She is most well-known for her portrayal of Penny Lane from the Hollywood film Almost Famous. Her nomination for the Academy Award was her most well-known character. As a child of a film family, Hudson seemed destined to the limelight from a young age. Her mother Goldie Hawn was an actor in film and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She was a performer from an early age and would jump at the chance to perform on the stage. As a child the parents of her provided dance classes and she studied at the Santa Monica Playhouse. Her first acting experience came in 1996 when she was offered a part in the TV drama Party of Five. When she was accepted into New York University by Kate Hudson, her goal was to make a living in showbusiness and not pursue an academic degree. After appearing in a handful of small films her audition was for the role that would prove to be her big break in her career. She was cast as Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. Though the film didn't do very well at the box-office, it was well received by critics and resulted in Kate an international star in the American film industry.
