Niykee, who has had many a hectic few years which included getting picked by Snoop to sing with him on the YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee has a regular songwriting routine despite all this. The songwriting process is an inspiration to hopeful producers. Niykee constantly listens to music and comes across beats that spark ideas. I'll know if a beat's good after the first five seconds and then I'll get a song in my mind and begin writing immediately she says. The words come to me when I'm on my patio, playing my guitar. It usually takes under 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She explains how the trauma she endured in the past is a constant source of unique ideas. When I'm not writing literally about things that have been a part of my life, all the pain of my childhood and loss of my sister being incorporated into my lyrics, she says. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater meaning, which I find extremely important. I would like to be able to hear my songs in 20 years and feel proud of what I have to say.
